“Help yourselves”: B.C. First Nations chief

A First Nations leader in British Columbia refuses to place all the blame for poverty outside of reserves.
Chief Clarence Louie of the Osoyoos Indian band says the Idle No More movement has been a positive thing because it has raised First Nations issues in Canada to the forefront.
But Louie says there needs to be more focus on creating jobs and making money.
The Osoyoos reserve is a story of success, owning the most businesses per capita, and even importing workers from other bands.
The Calgary Sun reports Louie has been heard saying at First Nations speaking events: “If your life sucks, it’s because you suck.”
