Courts to rule on dangerous offender status for Dustin Paxton

A Calgary man convicted of abuse against his roommate will find out if he will receive dangerous or long term offender status Wednesday.

Dustin Paxton was found guilty last year of aggravated and sexual assault after his roommate was dropped off at a Regina hospital in 2010, emaciated and suffering from severe injuries.

The crown is set to confirm whether it has been given approval to proceed with the label against Paxton.

A dangerous offender status would allow the courts to keep Paxton behind bars indefinitely.
