Firefighters battle two overnight blazes

The Calgary Fire Department had their hands full battling two overnight blazes at homes in the south end of the city.

Around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, fire officials evacuated a family from a house on 42nd Street S.W.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries battling the flames; no one else was hurt.

Then around 1:30 a.m., fire officials arrived on Penbrooke Drive S.E. to find another house engulfed in flames.

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation.

This time, the arson unit was called in to investigate.

No word on what started either of the fires.
