Parks Canada to hike fees

Get ready to pay more to take in some natural scenery.

Parks Canada is proposing an increase in fees to enter, camp, fish and even buy firewood in all 42 national parks in the country.

The fees, planned to start in 2015 and increase every two years, are expected to bring an additional $5-million to the organization.

The Director of Alberta’s Canadian Parks and wilderness society Anne-Marie Syslak tells The Calgary Herald the increases are unfortunate, and may make decrease the accessibility of these resources for all Canadians.

Syslak thinks Parks Canada is trying to make up for last year’s budget cuts.
