An over-heating light fixture at MacEwan Hall caused a small ruckus on the University of Calgary campus early Friday morning.
Battalion Chief Don Huska tells 660News, fire crews arrived just before 7:00am.
“Crews discovered light smoke in the food court area. A dry chemical extinguisher was discharged and crews assisted building maintenance with ventilating the structure of the dry chemical dust,” says Huska.
He adds, the small electrical doesn’t appear to have left any major damage.
A spokesperson for campus security tells 660News, just over 100 people were evacuated and the area of the building has since re-opened.
