Albertans split on private healthcare: survey

This may or may not come as a surprise to you, half of us living in Alberta are in favour of private healthcare services.
The survey from the Conference Board of Canada that found Albertans are evenly split on the subject.
Louis Thériault, Director, Health Economics says this just shows we need to have a serious discussion about private healthcare.
“Private health care encompasses many different ideas, including out-of-pocket payments for services and health care services delivered by private practitioners, clinics and other institutions. These results show that private delivery of health care is still contentious in the country,” said Thériault. “Albertans appear more open to the idea than the rest of Canada.”
The survey also found, the bigger ones paycheck is, the more in favour of private delivery they are.
60 per cent of Canadians asked said private services would cause the public system to deteriorate.
