Alberta may be pretty sunny in the winter, but a new survey says most of us heading south for a getaway are doing it to soak up some more rays.
The survey by Expedia.ca finds a majority of Canadians want a little more vitamin D in the winter months.
It makes sense; Canadians experience four to six less hours of sunlight in the dead of winter, and it could make anyone blue.
Sean Shannon with Expedia says 32 per cent of Canadians also want to escape those winter driving conditions.
“I think we can all relate to that, you know, when you’re doing your driving, especially in January and February, no matter where you are in Canada. And I think Alberta’s no exception to that, you’ve got to deal with Mother Nature.” Shannon explains.
Shannon says the most popular destination for Albertans seems to be Mexico.
