West LRT parking shortage annoying riders

A busy parking lot at the 69th Street LRT station is surprising officials and frustrating riders.

Alderman Richard Pootmans is recommending CTrain riders take a feeder bus to the station, instead of driving around aimlessly hoping for a parking spot.

Both the free and paid parking at the station fills up very quickly in the morning and Pootmans office has been flooded with calls complaining.

There were around 1,250 parking stalls built along with the new West LRT line.

Manager of transit planning Neil McKendrick tells The Calgary Sun, he hopes people can understand there’s only so much parking they can supply and that there’s no more space to put stalls.
