Drumheller jail on lockdown after assaults

Drumheller Institution remains on lockdown after five assaults happened Monday at the prison.

Officials say five inmates suffered minor injuries after they were attacked by other prisoners on their way to the meal lines.

The lockdown means inmates are in their cells 24 hours a day and are not operating under their normal routine.

Corrections staff say they are searching the facility for contraband.

Mounties are trying to figure out why the attacks occurred.
