Tips to Crime Stoppers break records in 2012

Calgary Crime Stoppers is celebrating its most successful year for tips in its three decade history.
The group received 4,057 tips in 2012; at least 1,000 more than previous years.
Executive Director Terry Hathaway says they are trying to determine what made last year so successful and what got Calgarians more involved in reporting crime.
Hathaway says a CTrain car wrap and an increased presence in social media definitely contributed to the rise in public help.
The Calgary Sun reports about half of last year’s tips came in online.
