Search for missing teacher this weekend

The family of a missing special needs teacher is hoping another search will uncover clues to where Sandra Mykytiuk-Evans is.

The 56-year-old was last seen at her home in Strathcona December 29, 2012 where it’s believed she went on a walk and never returned.

Her daughter Ashley Van Winkle tells City it has been the most trying month for her and her family and their thoughts constantly race, wondering if her mother is dead but clinging to the hope she is alive.

“Just the constant thoughts that she could be out there and what if she is hurt or waiting for us and we haven’t been able to find her.  You just can’t ever grieve fully, you just can’t ever move on,” said Van Winkle

The search will start at 10 a.m. Saturday morning beginning at St. Michael Church, 800 85 St. S.W.
