Crews battle two-alarm house fire in the S.W.

Danger has been averted during a two-alarm house fire in the S.W. community of Evergreen.

The lone occupant of a home on Everstone Boulevard was able to walk away from the roof fire that broke out just after 6:00 Friday evening.

Crews were forced to use an aerial ladder to fight the blaze and blocked off the road to aid their efforts.

The fire was under control in about an hour and it did not spread to neighbouring homes.

There is no word yet on a damage estimate or the cause, although the flames caused significant damage to the home.
