Save a pet; eat some cupcakes!

The Calgary Humane Society is participating in a national fund raiser, this month, an event you probably wouldn’t associate with homeless, abused and injured pets.

It’s called National Cupcake Day.

The actual date is Monday February 25th, but the Humane Society’s Christy Thompson tells 660News that the time to act is now.

“What people need to do is just register on NationalCupcakeDay.ca,” says Thompson.  “Then you can either wait for your host kit to arrive or you can actually just download it from the website.  And then you get donations for your cupcakes, and then all the money raised  will go to your own local SCCA that is participating.”

That’s the dollars and cents aspect of the promotion.  As for putting fun into promotion, Thompson says your imagination is the limit.

“You can have something in your home, or you can bring them to your child’s school or the office,” adds Thompson.  “It’s totally up to you.  And you can actually create your own little website on the national website, so that you can brag about your cupcakes and how much money you’ve raised.”

National Cupcake Day is Monday February 25th, but you’re encouraged to sign up now at the following link:  http://tinyurl.com/b5h23zj.
