Calgary schools put embargo on Valentines

A couple of Calgary elementary schools took a pass on exchanging Valentines cards this year.
Colonel Walker School in Inglewood and nearby Ramsay school asked students not to bring Valentines to exchange with classmates this week, citing environmental reasons.
Instead, kids wore pink and red clothing and designed a large heart on paper that all the other students signed.
A member of the school’s council says she thinks it’s a great idea since they will end up in the trash anyway.
Some parents tell The Calgary Herald they think it’s a bit much and many of the school kids exchanged cards before school started.
