It might have faded from public memory but the Commissioner of Elections Canada tells Postmedia/The Calgary Herald that the robocalls scandal remains his highest priority.
In a rare statement, Yves Cote says the investigation is “very complex,” but his department is making “significant progress.”
But the commissioner seems to indicate current laws are putting a crimp in the investigation, adding: “We are limited in the tools at our disposal to gather all of the evidence.”
At the centre of the controversy is the riding in Guelph, Ontario, where it’s alleged some 6,000 voters received misleading calls as to where to vote in the May 2011 election.
