A city alderman is defending the Canadian Home Builders’ Association after Mayor Naheed Nenshi took offense to comments by the president of the organization’s Calgary chapter.
Alderman Diane Colley-Urquhart agrees the city’s land use planning manager is responsible for a “suburban development freeze.”
Similar comments were made by the president of the CHBA.
Nenshi told Charron Ungar he needed to publicly apologize, or the CHBA would be banned from sitting in on city planning committees.
Alderman Jim Stevenson says the media is not the proper place to debate the issue, and concerns should be taken to the city manager.
