Evergreen fire victim to be remembered Saturday

A funeral is being held Saturday for Wendy Boyd, the victim of a house fire last weekend in Evergreen.

The body of the woman in her 50’s was found Sunday morning, but fire officials still don’t know what caused the deadly blaze in the two-storey walkout the night before in the southwest community.

According to the Calgary Herald, Boyd and her husband, Laurence, had planned to live in Russia this coming spring.  An avid traveller, Boyd’s passport had stamps on it from Brunei to Colombia to Yemen.

At the time of last weekend’s fire, Boyd’s husband and daughter were out of country, but Wendy was here in Calgary seeing a high school friend visiting from Europe.

The next day her body was found in the basement of her burned out home.

Saturday funeral is at the McInnis and Holloway Park Memorial Chapel at 5008 Elbow Drive Southwest at 2 p.m..
