Reel Interactive Family Film Day

If you’re intrigued by the film industry, you can see it up close and personal this weekend with a couple of events as part of Reel Interactive Family Film Day.

Saturday, two workshops are being held at the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame at Canada Olympic Park.

“You’ll have the opportunity to see some stage fighting or film editing,” the Filmfest’s Cathy McKee tells 660News.  “All kinds of film related booths that families can go in and get their hands into and see what the film world is like.  These are all film professionals that work right now on films in the city and around the city that have come and brought their crafts so that you can see what we do.”

Saturday’s workshops start at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and although tickets can be purchased at the door, McKee — who says there is a lot of interest in the event — advises you to buy them on-line so that you won’t be disappointed.

Sunday, the Filmfest is taking Calgarians back to the 20’s and 30’s with a silent film at The Plaza theatre in Kensington.

“We have an amazing silent film that we’re doing, with live accompaniment at The Plaza on Sunday.  It’s in cooperation with the National Music Centre.  It’s an old-fashioned family matinee.  It’s a Buster Keaton film with a very well-known Canadian musician, Chris Maric, and he’s been working on the score for months.”
