Researchers say most Albertans agree people should have the right to assisted suicide.
A study at the University of Alberta finds 77.4 per cent of those in the province support euthanasia.
Lead researcher Donna Wilson says Albertans who were religious, conservative, or less educated were less likely to be for the right to assisted suicide.
However, Wilson says we should be cautious before moving forward with a law.
She tells The Calgary Sun, the study uses the phrase “hastened death” to separate this kind of assisted suicide from the kind that’s legal in Belgium or Holland, there depressed people who are not already dying can arrange their own deaths.
