It will be a few weeks, but the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society will be looking for new homes for a pair of dogs, hopefully better ones than where they came from.
The pair were among five dogs intentionally burned in rural central Alberta, which appear to be caused by boiling oil being poured on the pets.
The other three are in a foster home in Edmonton.
AARCS Deanna Thompson said a couple of the dogs needed surgery, but they are in great spirits.
“Dogs are great like that, once they are on the mend their tails are wagging they’re happy to be loved and fed and taken care of, they’re doing great,” Thompson said.
RCMP and the Alberta SPCA are both aware of the incident.
