CBE not raising bus fees

The Calgary Board of Education won’t been hiking bus fees after all.

The provincial budget scrapped a fuel contingency fund, cutting $2.3 million from the board’s transportation budget.

Instead of passing it on to parents, the CBE will look elsewhere to make up the shortfall.

In a statement, Chief Superintendent Naomi Johnson says they’re sensitive to the impact fees have on thousands of families, and she hopes the decision will take some stress off moms and dads.
