Calgary city council will not be putting tighter restrictions on low income transit pass users, after reports the passes were being illegally resold to make money.
Alderman Diane Colley-Urquhart caused a stir last month when she urged measures be put forth to stop the activity from happening.
Colley-Urquhart’s proposal was to require pass holders hand in their old passes before getting new ones.
But, according to the Calgary Herald, Calgary Transit only logged 17 cases of illicit re-sales in 2012.
After a closed door discussion on Monday, Colley-Urquhart decided not to bring the idea to a vote.
