Ralph Klein’s health deteriorating

Former Premier Ralph Klein’s health has taken a turn for the worse as he battles serious illness at a Calgary seniors’ facility.

The politician, who also served as Calgary’s Mayor from 1980-1989, has been suffering from frontal lobe dementia and obstructive pulmonary disorder.

Klein’s former Chief of Staff Rod Love will only say the 70 year old is “resting comfortably.”

Well wishes are pouring in, Alberta Liberal leader Raj Sherman has released a statement saying “My thoughts and prayers are with former Premier Klein and his family… and I extend my heartfelt best wishes to them.”

Klein was named an officer of the Order of Canada last year.
