Six people were forced from their homes in the northwest after a carbon monoxide scare early Tuesday morning.
Fire crews arrived at the 7000 block of Ranchero Road N.W. around 1 a.m. to find three adults already outside being treated by EMS.
One adult and three children had to be evacuated from a home next door after firefighters found high carbon monoxide levels.
Investigators say outdoor cooking briquettes were being inappropriately used indoors.
Both families were later allowed to return to their homes.
