Night time traffic delays for ring road work

Starting Monday night traffic will be diverted so some huge girders can be brought in for the Stoney Trail bridge in the south east.

Until the 13th, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., motorists heading north on the Deerfoot between Highway 22X and the Cranston Avenue/Seton Boulevard interchanges will be diverted to a south bound lane making for two way traffic.

44 girders will be moved in during that time.  Girders are what help support the bridge and these ones are 41 metres long and weigh 60 tonnes each about the same as ten elephants.

When driving thru that stretch during those hours, drivers have to reduce your speed to 50 km/h and may be stopped when the trucks hauling the girders turn around.
