A proposed film studio for Calgary may be getting new life.
Paul Roscorla of William F. White International says his company is making an offer to contribute $1 million of private money to the project, in addition to other considerations. They include a five year lease for the sound stage as well as two, five year options to run the facility.
According to the Calgary Herald, the Redford government has balked at going ahead with the project without more private money. It’s committed to providing $13.2 million towards the project if enough private funding is raised.
Calgary City Council committed $10 million in 2011 towards the sound stage, known as the Alberta Creative Hub.
The total cost of the project is about $32 million.
