New research is disproving the myth that dinosaurs were bad swimmers.
A grad student at the University of Alberta found claw marks in an ancient riverbed in China that shows dinosaurs did a version of the dog paddle to swim long distances.
PhD student Scott Persons tells The Calgary Herald the creatures stood on their tippy toes, doing strokes in a left-right progression and used their tail to propel themselves.
Persons says dinosaurs’ bodies contained built-in flotation devices in the form of air sacks that made them very buoyant.
