A Calgary police officer was bitten by a dog in the northeast.
The officer was responding to a call of two large dogs on the loose in the schoolyard at École La Mosaïque School along Martindale Boulevard around 10:30 Tuesday morning.
Officers got the call from the worried principal who ushered his students back inside the school.
Police and bylaw services managed to corral the animals at the nearby LRT tracks, but in the process the officer was bitten.
He received minor wounds.
The two tibetan mastiffs have been seized by Animal and Bylaw Services.
Bylaw Services’ Doug Anderson says the owner faces charges under the bylaw act for the dogs’ aggression as well as the pets being at large.
