A new poll has found a big difference of opinion when it comes to ramped-up energy development and its impact on the planet.
The president of Forum Research, Lorne Bozinoff, tells 660News the survey they conducted in early April shows a big divergence of opinion.
On the question “is the earth’s climate changing?,” a majority of Canadians, including Albertans, agree; but only 55 per cent of people in this province believe it can be blamed on human activity, compared to 67 per cent outside of the province.
A majority of Albertans also support proposed pipeline projects, like the Keystone XL and the Northern Gateway, while less than 40 per cent outside of the Wildrose Province back those initiatives.
On the topic of sharing resource wealth, 60 per cent of Canadians think the revenue should be shared with the rest of the country; only 31 per cent of Albertans agree.
Bozinoff suggests the poll results show there is a big difference of opinion, and politicians and regulators need to take that into account when reviewing and approving future energy developments.
The survey also revealed while a majority of Canadians now think Alberta is a dominant force in confederation, Albertans don’t feel that way.
