Police to increase security at Calgary Marathon

City police say they will be extra vigilant when preparing for the 49th annual Calgary Marathon next month, in the wake of the Boston bombings.

The marathon is scheduled for May 26th.

Police spokesman Kevin Brookwell says they are always learning from events that happen throughout the world, and will be hyper aware in the coming month.

Brookwell tells The Calgary Sun it’s up to all Calgarians to keep the city safe, as it’s the eyes and ears of the public that can help spot suspicious activity during major events.
