Calgary Transit pushing yoga for bus drivers

Calgary Transit is hoping yoga classes will improve the health of bus drivers and drive down absentee rates.

City transit spending was $2-million over budget last year.

Transit Director Doug Morgan tells The Calgary Sun the key to reducing costs is reducing the number of sick days.

Each worker takes an average of 15 days off due to illness; way above the norm across the country.

Morgan says they are stepping up their health and wellness program by providing a personal trainer and fitness facilities.
