A 25-day old is now at the Alberta Children’s Hospital following a race through city streets Saturday.
The infant was at the South Health Campus off Seton Blvd in Calgary, when it was determined it would have to be rushed to the Children’s in the northwest just off 24th Avenue.
Stuart Brideaux with EMS says they turned to police to help get the baby to the northwest.
He says, “A decision was made to use a police escort in order to facilitate the ambulance transport, at which time we did depart South Health Campus and transfer the patient up to the Alberta Children’s in very quick order by ground.”
Police closed off a number of roads around 12:30 p.m. including parts of Deerfoot, Glenmore and Crowchild trails while a pediatric team travelled in the ambulance with the baby.
The infant remains in hospital in unstable condition.
