Idle No More update

The Idle No More movement is still going strong in Calgary.

Spokeswoman Chantal Chagnon tells 660News you may not be seeing them as often, because they’re doing more work behind the scenes.

She says, “it’s considered more of an education process at the moment because we are out there doing stuff everyday. Whether it be one person we’re talking to or a big group of 200 or 300 people.  It’s so important to get our message out there at a grass roots level.”

On Sunday, members of Idle No More movement held a round dance and protest in Olympic Plaza, against the Canada-China Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Act or FIPA.

Critics, including the NDP, say the agreement is harmful to the environment and indigenous groups, and is anti-democratic.

Chagnon says Idle No More is also planning a demonstration on Stephen Avenue Monday, which is also Earth Day.
