Residents displaced after a house fire in Ogden

Two residents won’t be returning home Wednesday night after a blaze in the SE community of Ogden.

Around 6:30 pm, crews were called to the 6000 block of 18A Street southeast to find a man and woman waiting outside.

Battalion Chief Larry Fisher tells 660News they got out of the home quickly thanks to a news report about another house fire Tuesday where the people stayed in the residence and phoned 9-1-1.

“The fellow had probably heard the news report on 660 and when he smelled smoke he decided to get out of the building and phone 9-1-1, very commendable,” he says.

Fisher adds the blaze was quickly brought under control but there was significant damage to the second story.

He says neighbouring homes were not damaged.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
