Brush fire on Tsuu T’ina Reserve

Water-bombers are working to fight a fire near Fish Creek Park.

660News listener Brent spotted the flames as he traveled along 37th Street near 146th Avenue SW.

“It’s gotten into the heavy timber in the area. I do not think there’s a road in there. There is a helicopter on site getting ready to start dropping water real quick,” says Brent.

The fire is burning in the southeast corner of the Tsuu T’ina Reserve.

The Calgary Fire Department tells 660News they’ve turned over control of fighting the fire to Alberta Sustainable Recourses as they are better equipped to fight fires in heavily treed areas.

It’s expected they will use planes and helicopters to dump water on the area through Saturday evening, before returning Sunday morning to check for hot spots.
