With no recent lightning strikes in the area, officials suspect human activity is to blame for the large wildfire burning in west-central Alberta.
The blaze, near the Hamlet of Nordegg, is about 100 hectares in size and is listed as out of control.
Clearwater County has issued an evacuation notice, warning Nordegg residents be ready to leave their homes within an hour if the wildfire moves closer.
An Environment Sustainable Resource Development spokesperson says the blaze remains too unpredictable to provide an estimate on when it will be brought under control.
Another out-of-control wildfire is also burning near Whitecourt west of Edmonton, but no homes are immediately affected by that fire.
