A man is walking on his hands from Edmonton to Calgary.
31 year-old Spencer West, who will also sometimes be pushing himself along in his wheelchair, had his legs removed due to a medical condition when he was only five years-old.
Now working with the organization Free the Children, he’s trying to raise awareness about the need for clean water in developing countries.
“We’re looking at girls not going to school because they’re helping their moms with the chores around the house and then they’re collecting water three times a day. They’re walking to a water source that is sometimes two or three hours away, each way,” says West.
The We Walk 4 Water convoy is about half way to Calgary and will reach the city by Thursday.
