Despite a level three fire ban in effect it will be business as usual for the Calgary Fire Department.
Staffing levels remain the same in these situations with about 250 firefighters on duty in the city, at all times.
Battalion Chief Ernie Molineaux says one of the only differences is crews won’t be too far from their bush buggies.
“Rather than take the aerial out of the district and do some training on it we make sure that anything like that is done at the station or close by so they can switch to the other apparatus immediately if the need comes to that.” Molineaux says.
Molineaux adds crews will also be out patrolling parks and grassy areas in bush buggies.
The level three fire ban came into effect at 10 p.m. Saturday night. Meaning any outdoor fire is a part of the ban, including fire pits and outdoor fire places.
