Teachers contract deadline looms

With Monday’s deadline looming to ratify the labour deal with teachers, the premier won’t say how the province will handle several boards refusing to approve it.

The Calgary Herald reports, Alison Redford rebuffed questions on whether the government would legislate to get the deal passed or fire school boards opposed to it.

All she’ll say is that we’ll see what happens on Monday,  and that the education minister would be working hard this weekend to try to bring the boards onside.

The Calgary Board of Education is one of at least five school boards that have voted against the deal.
