The police officer that shot a man who ran down two seniors in an SUV in the city’s northwest says he had no choice.
Friends of the man, identified as Jason Harron, say he could now be blind after he was shot in the stomach and temple.
The incident happened on Crowfoot Way N.W. Tuesday afternoon.
Calgary Police Chief Rick Hanson tells The Calgary Sun, it should have been a routine traffic stop but the driver showed a “complete and utter disregard for the safety of anyone in the area.”
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating.
