New attractions at the 2013 Stampede

There will be something new on the Midway at the Calgary Stampede this year.

It is called ‘Bell aqua ranch’.

The Stampede describes it as “a pool the size of a hockey rink, fountains shooting water 70 feet high and extreme jet skiers making waves, all in the middle of Stampede Park.”

It goes daily at 12 p.m., 3 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

A new thrill ride called ‘Mach 3’ promises to get the butterflies going in your tummy.

Midway Operations Manager James Radke says “once Mach 3 begins, you better hold on tight because the arm will rotate up to 13 revolutions per minute, producing an acceleration of 3.5g on the riders.”

Other highlights include:

Ghost Riders:  The dynamic group of dancers will move around the Park showing off their award-winning “popping” skills in beautiful all-white leather costumes. Visitors won’t want to miss this avant-garde interpretation of Wild West meets New York street-style dance.

Buckaroos presented by Southland Transportation: In its brand new BMO Centre Hall A location, Buckaroos will feature exciting entertainment for the little ones. Treehouse TV’s Thomas and Friends, Angelina Ballerina, Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder are just a few of the characters who will be dancing up a storm and having fun with the children, so don’t miss the daily dance parties!

Saddledome Steps: The Steps will feature visiting show bands from all around the world as well as the world champion Stampede Showband. In addition to this world-class entertainment, the Steps will feature new acts like: Bendy Em, a world famous contortionist; Justin Case the one man acrobatic theatrical comedy performer; and fan favourite Bandaloni.
