Lilac Festival on Sunday

The 24th annual Lilac Festival will be taking over 4th Street in the southwest on Sunday.

The largest free festival in Western Canada, the event is thirteen blocks long with more than 500 vendors and six stages where bands will perform.

Executive Director Jennifer Rempel tells 660News, the rainy forecast will not be getting in the way of the festivities.

“We just tell people to bring an umbrella, and it’s no different than when it’s sunny,” she says.  “Everyone still sets up shop, the bands still play, the entertaining still happens, the buskers still busk. All you should do is wear your rain boots and bring an umbrella if it happens to be a little bit wet that day.”

The event will kick off with a parade at 10 a.m., and Rempel promises this year it will be bigger and better than ever.
