Alberta man saved from twister by text message

An Albertan is crediting a text message from a friend for saving his life.

Kelly Damphousse is in Moore, Oklahoma, and was in a storage facility just before an EF5 tornado struck Monday.

The University of Oklahoma Dean says the text message warned him of the impending danger, at which point he went outside and saw the huge twister coming.

Workers at the facility had to use wrenches to take apart the gate in order to get Damphousse out because the tornado had knocked out power to the area.

He then hopped in his truck and drove away from the storm as quickly as he could.

The Calgary-born man tells the Calgary Sun he went back to the facility later, and it was flattened by the twister.
