Police investigate two suspicious packages

Police have re-opened Crowchild Trail and two LRT stations after reports of two separate suspicious packages.

The bomb unit was called in and robots were sent in to investigate the two packages left at the Brentwood and Crowfoot LRT station.

Duty Inspector Jim Stinson tells 660News, “it was some sort of cooking vessel, that was the one in Brentwood and then the other one north of Crowchild appears to be some sort of old electronic device like a television or something.”

Police say there was never any threat to the public during this investigation but they wanted to be certain before reopening the area.

Crowchild Trail was closed in both directions as a result for about two hours, re-opening shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Both LRT stations were evacuated and cordoned of as a precaution and buses were diverted from the area as well.
