A Calgary man is being identified as the pilot killed in a fatal helicopter crash 130 kilometres north of Fort McMurray on Wednesday.

Bryce Colin Campbell, 35, was piloting the aircraft when it went down in a remote area of the Wood Buffalo region, killing Campbell and provincial biologist Kristina Norstrom.

The Calgary Sun reports Campbell was born and raised in Calgary, but lived in Golden, B.C. with his fiancée, Melanie, and their eight-month-old daughter, Maya.

A second passenger is in stable condition in hospital.

Investigators say weather was not a factor in the crash.
