Rocky Ridge tries ‘Pace Car’ program

This is certainly a different solution to get drivers to slow down school zones and on residential streets.

Members of the Rocky Ridge Royal Oak Community Association are looking for volunteers to serve as “pace cars” and drive the posted speed limit.

Volunteers would have special decals on their vehicles, and would help to slow down traffic behind them.

The Calgary Herald reports, the community association has applied for $5,700 in funding from the city and is hoping to launch the project as early as this summer.

A similar concept has been used in many other cities including Edmonton, Halifax, and Washington, D.C.
