Premier prepares to host Alberta counterpart

SAINT JOHN – The premier of Alberta Alison Redford will be in New Brunswick tomorrow to talk about a pipeline project from Alberta to Saint John.
TransCanada Corp. is seeking binding commitments from shippers before determining whether to convert an existing
3,000-kilometre natural gas pipeline so it can carry crude into Quebec, with the possibility of an extension into Saint John.
Premier David Alward says this will be the first time a preimer from another province has addressed the New Brunswick legislature.
Redford will also address a Saint John Board of Trade luncheon and take tours of the Irving Oil Refinery and Port Saint John.
Her visit follows a trip to Calgary last month by Saint John mayor Mel Norton, who led what he called a “mission” to Alberta to push for support of the pipeline project.
