Big news out of the energy patch Wednesday morning; starting in 2014, a Global Petroleum Show will be staged in Calgary every year in June.
In the past, the show, put on by DMG Events Canada at Stampede Park, has happened every two years.
Executive Vice President Wes Scott tells 660News because of market demand, they’ve decided to invite the world to Calgary each and every year.
The decision means the Gas and Oil Expo, staged on odd years, is no more.
Scott says the announcement is good news for the local economy, pointing to the fact last year’s Global Petroleum Show pumped almost $70-million into the local economy and resulted in over $8.9-billion in business transactions.
