Man survives 12-metre fall

A man is in Foothills Hospital recovering from a fall of about 12 metres.

Stuart Brideaux with EMS says they were called out to a work site at Crowchild Trail and 53rd Street NW around 7:30 Saturday morning on reports that a man had fallen about four stories from some scaffolding.

He says the victim is in his late 40’s and struck other surfaces on the way down.

“There were some extremity fractures, although our primary concerns when dealing with a fall from this height is usually head, or internal chest or abdominal injuries that we can’t determine outside of hospital,” says Brideaux.

The man was taken to hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Occupational Health and Safety has been called in to investigate.
