Transit quiet on whether smart card funds have been recovered

Calgary Transit won’t say whether they’ve recouped costs from a smart card fare system scrapped by the city.
Telvent signed a $7-million contract in 2010 to produce the tap and go system for bus and LRT service in Calgary.
But, the city cancelled the program last November due to delays and poor testing of the system.
The Calgary Herald reports Telvent was paid at least $1.6-million, and it’s unclear if that money has been paid back.
The city will be putting out a call for a new smart card provider this week.
